Young talent development project: Out of the Box – into your Mind: Redesigning a student experiment kit for electronics
In the BMFTR-funded project “ForLab NataliE” (Research Laboratories Germany – Young Talents for Integrated Electronics), two further micro pilot projects will be launched at the beginning of 2026. One of these is “Out of the Box – into your Mind.”
The aim is to produce an experiment kit that better fills previous blind spots in STEM school subjects with regard to microelectronics than has been the case to date.
A particular challenge in recruiting young talent is the interface between school and university. Current contact with electrical engineering, and even more so with microelectronics, is limited to individual topics in physics, technology, and computer science classes. The aim of this project is to design an experiment kit adapted to the curriculum that expands the electrical engineering content of the curriculum and gives teachers the opportunity to integrate it without great effort. In addition, these experiments can also be used in events such as Girls’ Day, open houses, and many others at all ForLab partners nationwide.
