Objectives

The objective of this initiative is to consolidate the cooperative structures of the research laboratories and to expand them by incorporating additional university locations. By establishing uniform guidelines for cleanrooms and laboratories, access—particularly for SMEs, start-ups, and research groups—is simplified, thereby also facilitating collaboration.
Via the information platform “Competence Atlas,” the available facilities, research and teaching profiles, and industrial collaborations of the universities are made visible.
In addition, cross-university formats for student education and early-career recruitment are being piloted as nationwide best-practice examples and linked with national and European training initiatives. Of particular note is the “Microtec Academy,” which is currently being further developed and established as a national education academy for microelectronics and microsystems engineering within the framework of the “skills4chips” project. In this way, a central, nationwide access to qualification programs across the entire education pipeline is created. Close cooperation is also being sought with research networks such as the “Research Fab Microelectronics Germany” (FMD), Chipdesign Germany, and EuroNanoLab, as well as with industry networks such as VDE and Silicon Saxony.
